IKEA Xindian store

New Taipei City, Taiwan

Situated within the Meihashi complex at the Xiaobitan Metro Station on the Xindian Line, the design for the IKEA Xindian Store carefully navigated the site's unique dual contexts: it enjoys seamless urban connectivity via mass transit while commanding panoramic vistas of the Xindian River and distant mountain ridges. Leveraging these exceptional site conditions, our firm conceptualized and delivered the largest and most picturesque IKEA restaurant in Taiwan. This spatial strategy elevates the traditional retail paradigm, ensuring customers enjoy a premium, scenic dining sanctuary alongside their shopping experience.

At the entrance of the IKEA Xindian Store, we juxtaposed the brand’s signature blue and yellow corporate identity with lush indoor greenery and light-toned timber cladding. This materiality serves as a spatial metaphor for Xindian's pristine microclimate, evocative of its rolling green hills and riverfront parks. The project boasts a generous retail floor plate paired with strategic double-height voids, significantly enhancing spatial comfort and circulation fluidness. This expansive architectural configuration invites customers to leisurely experience the curated furniture and interior showcases in a relaxed, stress-free environment.

Supplementing the main dining hall, the IKEA Café is strategically anchored adjacent to the Xiaobitan Metro Station concourse link, offering highly popular signature light bites such as Swedish Salmon Wraps and Teriyaki Chicken Paninis. By seamlessly pairing an optimized, low-stress retail layout with these dual Swedish culinary destinations, the design for the IKEA Xindian Store contextualizes a holistic and entirely redefined retail journey for the contemporary consumer.
