Huayi Brothers Cinema Shanghai

Shanghai, China

Situated within the Changfeng Joy City plaza, Huayi Brothers Shanghai Changfeng Cinema marks the premier flagship entertainment investment by Huayi Brothers in Shanghai. Strategically conceived from its inception as an ultra-luxury cinematic destination, the architectural layout cross-pollinates the monumental scale and expressive geometry of theatrical design with the refined elegance and humanistic warmth of luxury hospitality. Captionalizing on the building's original circular framework, the grand lobby is masterfully re-engineered into a fluid, continuous concourse. This curvilinear axis functions as an immersive travel route, seamlessly anchoring tickets, concessions, lounges, exhibition galleries, and screening entryways into a single choreographed itinerary, elevating the movie-going routine into a curated journey of exploration.

The optimization of the spatial volume demonstrates exceptional structural ingenuity; by utilizing the dead volume directly beneath the raked stadium seating of the auditoriums, we carved out highly efficient, intimate lounge pockets. This deliberate juxtaposition of spatial scales captures a compelling architectural dialogue: compressing the micro-environments to heighten their cozy, vibrant intimacy, while maximizing the central atrium's cavernous volume to project a monumental and awe-inspiring presence. Inside the screening chambers, the design strictly prioritizes sensory comfort and immersive visual ergonomics. Beginning at the thresholds, the illumination dynamically transitions from bright to dim, granting the viewers' pupils a seamless light-adaptation sequence that enhances both safety and psychological comfort. Furthermore, the dimensioning of structural corridors, step risers, and seat pitches are meticulously engineered to surpass national regulatory standards, guaranteeing an elite hospitality experience.
