Environmental Narratives & Bibliophilic Sanctuaries Collaborating with Eslite Bookstore, Dolly Design / Lin Ming-e Architects has curated a whimsical, forest-inspired literary haven within MITSUI OUTLET PARK Linkou: "Eslite Bookstore Linkou." The spatial circulation systematically translates four behavioral patterns native to a woodland ecosystem into interactive retail pathways: Strolling through the woods, Reading under the canopy, Picnicking in the glade, and Exploring the treehouse. By integrating lightweight timber aesthetics with warm, calibrated lighting, and intentionally staggered display vitrines alongside multi-tiered tabling, the interior architecture mirrors the cadence of wandering patrons, effortlessly fulfilling the core vision: [Woodland Whimsy: A Symbiosis of Books and Trees].
Spatial Thresholds & Programmatic Zoning The storefront comprises two distinct retail programming anchors: Eslite Bookstore and Eslite Spectrum EXPO. At the main welcoming threshold of the bookstore, a monumental stylized tree spreads its structural branches to embrace incoming patrons, while treehouse-shaped display volumes are embedded directly within the glazed storefront. This strategic play on visual transparency and tectonic layers generates an irresistible psychological pull, inviting consumers to explore within. Upon entry, guests are greeted by the best-seller showcase and a thoughtfully detailed service counter. The choreographed pathways guide readers smoothly through the literary zones; looking upward, abstracted ceiling canopies evoke the dappled shade of a forest, inviting guests to pick up a volume and indulge in reading under a tree. As the journey unfolds, bespoke treehouse feature installations appear at curated visual focal points, leading seamlessly into the bookstore's internal blackpages Cafe the fragrant aroma of brewing coffee gently beckons patrons to decelerate their pace, inviting them to savor the artisanal blends enveloped by the rich textures of literature and nature. Moving toward the spatial termination, the "Eslite Children’s Pavilion" unfolds as the ultimate crown jewel of the project. Spanning an expansive 2,100-square-foot footprint, this specialized zone functions as the focal anchor of Eslite Linkou. The design climax is centered around a whimsical, sculptural treehouse installation, under which the integrated amphitheater seating adapts a bold typographical contour-step morphology. This strategic micro-topography empowers children to immerse themselves in the boundless joy of reading, securely cradled within the volumetric embrace of the monumental tree and its protective canopy.
