FamilyMart, National Highway Suao Service Area

For the FamilyMart Su'ao Service Area project along the national highway, the interior design integrates the distinct topographical and cultural landscape of the Lanyang Plain across all programmatic zones. Our design intervention aims to redefine the public's conventional perception of highway service stations, subverting them from mere transit nodes into a captivating cultural destination and a landmark attraction within Yilan.
At the main entrance's double-height atrium, a monumental installation mimicking migratory mackerel schools symbolizes Yilan’s bountiful marine resources, while the central marketplace features a fluid, undulating wave-shaped ceiling that infuses the retail concourse with maritime vitality. At the secondary entrance, a flock of migratory birds suspended mid-air within the soaring atrium evokes the serene ambiance of the Lanyang Waterbird Refuge. Furthermore, the designated family dining and play-reading zones are programmed around a whimsical "Mermaid and Underwater World" theme, transforming this highway service station into an engaging, multi-generational leisure destination for the entire family.
