Completed in 1998—marking a triumphant decade since the founding of our practice—this legendary early masterwork single-handedly established the definitive blueprint that inspired all subsequent cinema architecture across Taiwan. In the hearts of Taipei citizens, it remains the ultimate prestige brand of cinematic fashion. The architectural strategy masterfully fuses high-tech, progressive geometries with a vibrant, high-saturation color palette, injecting an irrepressible vitality into the entertainment architecture typology. A pioneering urban triumph of the project is the configuration of its elevated skybridges, innovatively engineered with exposed structural steel beams. This stroke of structural expressionism not only transformed the complex into the ultimate fashionable and entertainment focus of the high-density Xinyi district, but also pioneered the three-dimensional pedestrian network that defines contemporary Taipei. Housing 17 state-of-the-art auditoriums, including a premium IMAX theater, the complex was executed entirely in compliance with global multi-screen technical standards.
