VIESHOW Cinemas Miaoli Shang Shun

Miaoli, Taiwan

"Shang Shun World" comprises three programmatic anchors: the Shopping Center, the Grand Royal Hotel, and the Theme Park. Strategically situated on the 7th-floor rooftop of the Shopping Center, the Toufen Vieshow Cinemas functions as the critical destination tenant of the complex.

The architectural manifesto of "The Mountain Diamond" is flawlessly executed throughout the structural envelope; while the exterior facade utilizes parametric diamond-cut framing, the interior zoning gradients step through individual gem allegories—from white diamonds and rubies to sapphires, emeralds, and citrines. Upon reaching the cinema concourse on the apex floor, these latent colors violently burst into a brilliant chromatic explosion, orchestrating a visual carnival. Saturated in a lavender-violet baseline, the grand lobby utilizes Mondrian-inspired geometric color-blocking techniques interlocked with vibrant primary swatches of yellow, blue, and red, projecting an uninhibited, cavernous spatial volume. Expansive glazed curtain walls feature custom stained-glass filigree, allowing sunlight to diffuse dynamically across every corner, which, when paired with bespoke, structural luminaires, transforms the reception threshold into a whimsical, cinematic fantasy.

Transitioning into the screening sector, patrons traverse a monumental Golden Arch, acting as a psychological threshold that invites them to step into the persona of a Hollywood megastar. As ambient lux levels decrease, the eye adapts to the dim transitional corridor, where the vertical surfaces deploy an image-montage silhouette narrative. This scenography surrounds the moving patron with a phantom entourage of film crews, paparazzi, and vintage cameras that shadow their every step. Flanking this interactive corridor are the cinema auditoriums, where the doorway portals use retro, film-reel countdown graphics for their signage typography, infusing the spatial sequence with a witty, nostalgic cinematic charm.
